Research

The research at the IT Faculty is carried out by the two departments:


Both departments are common between the University of Gothenburg and Chalmers University of Technology, which creates a dynamic milieu for cross disciplinary research within the field of IT.

At he Department of Applied Information Technology the research focus on e.g. Software Engineering, IT management, IT and learning, Open Innovation, and Public Safety.

At the Department of Computer Science and Engineering the research focus on e.g. language technology, programming logic, and interaction design.

The research at the departments is often carried out in collaboration with the industry, in the form of joint research projects, industry Ph.D. students and professors from the industry.

The IT Faculty also collaborates with different parts of Chalmers University of Technology and the University of Gothenburg.

Two of the priority research areas at University of Gothenburg

The Vice Chancellor of University of Gothenburg has appointed eight priority research areas for the period 2009-2012. The IT Faculty is involved in two of these areas:

  • Language Technology
  • Learning
