About the Faculty

The IT Faculty was founded in 2002 and consists mainly of the university parts of the two departments Applied Information Technlogy and Computer Science and Engineering. Both departments are common between the University of Gothenburg and Chalmers University of Technology.

The research spans the whole spectrum, from theoretical underpinnings to applied systems development. There is an extensive national and international collaboration with academia and industry. Research and education are both international with researchers and students from many different countries.

Already in an early stage collaboration was established between the IT Faculty and the society, companies and authorities. This work has been developed and strengthened. Several courses and programmes are carried on in projects, sometimes in problem based learning, where companies, authorities and other organisations are taking active parts in the education.
